Science education in India

There are currently several life science societies in India. The names are diverse, the purpose in fact remains the same. These societies aim to bring people closer to a universal platform and popularize science. It is necessary to incorporate a certain initiative to popularize science, which is necessary for its improvement in society.

Initiative of the Life Sciences Society (LSSI)

The greater effort of the prevailing societies necessitates a more focused perspective. The current perspective is more towards increasing awareness of science within the community, there is also interdisciplinary work carried out by some of these societies. Efforts should be directed not only to bring these intellectuals and students together on a common platform, but also to instill in them the habit of interacting in the near future. Therefore, the directives should aim at creating a scientist, professor, entrepreneur and, most importantly, an intellectual.

Scientist-Teacher Interaction (STI)

There should be a greater partnership between researchers and educators between science educators and scientists to teach science as it is practiced. There is a communication gap, which is commonly observed between the scientist and the teacher. The use and conception of improved facilities, updating of knowledge and productive interactions between the scientist and the teacher should be practiced. The inclusion of teaching, research and the development of human research must also be part of the process. Programs should be started to improve interactions between the two groups.

Teacher-student interaction (TSI)

This interaction is really strong and influenced. There is daily interaction and discussion among the members of this group. The popularization of science is a positive feature that this group can initiate. Apart from academics, the vision should be set towards popularizing science in the near future. In many institutes and colleges, the incorporation of research projects as part of the curriculum has generated a zeal among the young generation for research and science.

Scientist-student interaction (SSI)

In most cases, students’ reach into science or scientist is limited. There is a lack of knowledge among students about the research, so it is necessary to establish a dialogue within the scientific-student community. In recent years communication between these communities is possible through interactive sessions and programs such as conferences, symposia, invited conferences or open forums.

But what is the life of this talk? Does the discussion end within the four walls of the conference room? What are the numbers benefited by this program? What about grassroots initiatives?

One of the initiatives in this regard is the launch of scientific journals. In recent years the number of scientific journals has increased. Previously, scientific journals were more focused on readers of particular age groups, now they attract more diversified readers. Scientific journals have been shown to reduce barriers to some extent. But how many of them are allowed to buy or read these magazines?

Scientific awareness strategy (SAS)

Where do we place the science, the scientist, or the science educator? Do you always face a setback in financial terms? Are Science Educators Looking For Change? What do science students think about the long-term prospects for their scientific career?

Honestly speaking, science is still certainly not a career dream for most of them. Therefore, science should be more attractive and focused. The researchers’ perspective towards the students should be more open. Life science societies and organizations are driven by their own disciplines. They are more focused on the organizational aspects and need to coordinate their activities on topics such as science education.

The state of science education in India remains critical today compared to the rest of the world. The importance of science education should not be ignored. Therefore, a collaborative effort of the scientific and educational communities has become an hour-long necessity.
