paladin leveling guide

Level up your paladin in World of Warcraft

Paladins, or Pallies, are very versatile in the roles they can play. They are a hybrid breed that can heal and tank at the same time. Given the chance, they can deal a fair amount of damage. DPS is the cry of all WoW characters trying to level up. For Paladins, Retribution is the best way to get high DPS and level quickly. While Pallies can level up on their own, they level up and work best as support for groups. They are among the toughest hybrids because they can wear all kinds of armor.

Slow and steady, it’s the paladin’s way of working. Leveling up is a bit slower than for other classes, but the paladin’s survivability is much higher. Because the buddy is so versatile, the character’s build will determine what needs he may have when it comes to equipment. For the particular build we’ll be discussing, you’ll want to equip your paladin with armor and trinkets that offer bonuses to intellect, stamina, and agility. Quick leveling is all about how fast you can complete quests and kill mobs. Then you will want a weapon that increases your DPS. Paladins tend to work best when grouped with other characters. If your paladin is teaming up with a tank, forget about the shield and go with a two-handed sword. If you’re teaming up with someone who’s squishy (a cloth user), you might consider a one-handed shield and sword. If another character is a mage, you may not be able to do enough damage to hold on to aggro, so a two-handed sword may be necessary anyway.

Once you hit level 10, you can start using your talent points to spec your Paladin accordingly: Blessing 5/5; divine strength 5/5; Divine Intellect 5/5; Spiritual focus 5/5; Improved Judgment 2/2; Improved Devotion Aura 1/5; Improved Seal of the Crusader 2/2; Belief 5/5; Seal of command 1/1; An eye for an eye 2/2; Crusade 3/3; Two-handed weapon specialization 3/3; Sanctity Aura 1/1; Sanctity aura upgraded 2/2; revenge 5/5; Sanctified Judgment 3/3; Hallowed Seals 3/3; regret 1/1; Fanaticism 5/5; and Crusader Strike 1/1. This build will get you to level 70. If AOEs appeal to you, you can switch to a protection tree at level 30. Although many of the issues you would experience with the Protection tree are eventually balanced out by the addition of new talents. , Protection is still for me a much slower build to level. Your tanking abilities increase dramatically and it’s easier to stay alive.

Paladins can play solo effectively as they level up. Around level 40, paladins have enough talent points allocated to them that they have very little trouble soloing. If you don’t have a group of friends or a guild to play with, you can still play a Pally.
