5 easy metal songs to play on the guitar

What drives guitarists to pick up the guitar is that they want to learn how to play their favorite songs. Most of the songs are quite challenging, but luckily there are some easy ones as well. Since most guitarists start out with rock or metal, I decided to list five easy metal songs that anyone can learn to play quickly. These five songs are my favorite metal songs and I hope you like them too.

Song 1. Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath

This is the king of all metal songs. It’s the song that gave rise to the metal genre in my opinion. The song is quite dark and has a creepy mood. It was one of the first songs I learned on the guitar because it’s pretty easy to play. There are only a couple of riffs to learn and they are not that hard to play. The song is quite old. It was released in 1970 on the album which is also called Black Sabbath.

Song 2. For whom the bell tolls – Metallica

One of Metallica’s biggest hits. It has very simple riffs and is therefore very easy to learn. Many of my students who are beginners learned this song as one of the first. It also has a dark tone because the lyrics were inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s novel of the same name. The track was released on the Ride the Lightning album in 1984.

Song 3. Breaking the Law – Judas Priest

Judas Priest’s most famous song. The riff is quite simple as is the rhythm. The genre of the song is the classic New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Rob Halford really shines in this one. The song is from the British Steel album which was released in 1980.

Song 4. Holy Diver – Dio

This song has one of the most recognizable riffs in metal history. All the parts are quite simple, so it won’t take you long to learn it. Dio has many more easy songs that you can listen to, but this is the song that I recommend you start with. It is from an album of the same name as the track and was released in 1983.

Song 5. Symphony of Destruction – Megadeth

Last but not least is probably Megadeth’s biggest hit, Symphony of Destruction. This song also has simple riffs that any beginner can learn with a little practice. The song is from his album Countdown to Extinction, which was released in 1992.

Take a look at other songs by these artists because they have songs that are easier to practice. Remember to learn entire songs and not just a couple of riffs from each song, if you want to advance to the next level. If some parts are challenging for you, slow down and practice until you can play them.
