NFL owners to vote on new hair rule for NFL players: hair must be under helmet

Self-expression is something that we Americans hold dear and cherish because, quite frankly, we are one of the few countries in the world that allows you to do what you want, wear what you want, and have your hair as long as you want.

All this long hair controversy started last year when Chiefs superstar Larry Johnson accosted Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu (who has arguably the most recognizable hair in the NFL), pulling his hair and taking it out of bounds. sight to see and it looked pretty painful, but an argument could be made that Larry Johnson was doing his best to make the entrance. On the other hand, he was quite brutal and unnecessary in the eyes of most people.

Well next week all the NFL owners are getting together to discuss what rules they’d like to enforce this season and the hair tackle is going to be one of them. This rule won’t require any football player like Polamalu to cut his hair (God knows how much trouble that would cause), but it will require him and every other NFL player who has hair that covers the name on the back of their jerseys to keep their hair on their helmet by any means possible.

If this rule gets the votes of all or a majority of NFL owners and goes into effect, you can expect some very angry NFL players like Pittsburgh Steelers’ Troy Polamalu, Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew and Robert Gallery with the Oakland Raiders. There will be a lot of disgruntled players and there may even be protests or some players being left out (I doubt it, but it’s very possible).
