The author, M. Sasinowski, is a Polish-born American who designed the main character, Alyssa, as his own 15-year-old daughter. According to his daughter, he also has a doctorate in physics and a doctorate in medicine. For fun, he enjoys building computers, music jam sessions, science debates, martial arts, Star Wars and Star Trek, as well as archaeology.
