Baby flip flops: the key word is cuteness

Just what the subtitle says… “cuteness” is the keyword connected to baby flip flops. I could link to tens of YouTube videos showing babies wearing them, all with comments like “so cute!” or references to his “cuteness”. However, cuteness is not their only -or even their main- advantage, and one -as a parent- should keep several important things in mind before buying a pair of these for their little baby.

To begin with: the first important thing someone should focus on (as with all children’s footwear, if not all footwear in general) is Health, while the second is Safety. Baby flip flops should provide safety and not endanger the health of children and this is the main thing that parents should look for. The companies that make them have taken this into account and have added an ankle strap to most of the models that can be found on the market. This ankle strap, which most of them wear, increases their level of security to such an extent that one really doesn’t have to worry about their baby while walking – at least, not more than with any other shoe. So when choosing a pair of thongs for your baby’s feet, here’s what to ask the salesperson. Babies tend to walk unsteady and a pair of shoes without an ankle strap would add to their lack of stability. Also, providing sufficient arch support is another very important goal that a pair of thongs made for babies should achieve. Another important thing that should never be ignored is that if the child is complaining or showing signs of not being comfortable with it or if the baby seems to be feeling any kind of pain in the feet (remember the arch is where you want to focus), the parents they should get rid of them and find some other garment for their baby’s feet.

Also, comfort is not a settled issue for babies like it is for adults. Although flip flops are more comfortable than almost any other shoe for an adult or teen, a baby may not feel comfortable wearing them. In this case, one should prefer the will of his baby rather than the taste of her. So if the baby seems or complains about his flip-flops, then another shoe should be preferred. Teaching a baby how to use them would help, but using them all the time and on every occasion is not recommended. Certain occasions (a sandy beach or a walk along one of the sidewalks in NY) are always ideal settings for this type of casual footwear, while more formal settings call for different footwear.

You will not find many models of rhinestone flip flops for babies, because simpler and less shiny models fit their little feet more. However, if you want you can always decorate some simple baby flip flops with stones, crystals or whatever you like best for your young lady.

Do not hesitate to choose bright colors, or even “youthful” designs for your little one’s feet. Trust me, he will love them more than you, and he will use them as part of his game and getting to know the environment around him.

Having taken these precautions, one can be sure that you can go ahead and give your wrist a good, safe pair of baby flip flopsthat both will love it, because, after all, tenderness is what this shoe can provide more than any other.
