Accurist Watches: The Story of One of the Leading Watch Brands

The names originally behind Accurist were Asher and Rebecca Loftus, who originally intended to create a brand of lasting value, using the best quality materials and watches for their timepieces. The watches were made with Swiss components, which of course is an important sales message that, combined with the low prices and variety of models available, quickly established this watch brand on the market.

When Richard Loftus left the University, the next chapter of the Accurist watch began, as he designed a new range of watches that was to revolutionize the watch market worldwide. “Old England” watches soon became a must-have for celebrities, with the likes of The Beatles, Twiggy and even Princess Anne wearing their Accurist watch with pride, especially on those special occasions.

In the late sixties, Accurist opened its first office in Switzerland, which was established as Accurist SA, which due to its location in the heart of the watchmaking capital, La Chaux de Fonds, sent messages around the world that Accurist was fast becoming one of the largest designer watch manufacturers in the world. The introduction of the digital quartz movement and technological developments meant that Accurist soon designed more modern timepieces and was the official watch for Concorde pilots, which was recently launched at the time.

In the 1980s, the company moved its manufacturing to Japan and also became the official sponsor of the Talking Clock, which is still used by millions of people to this day. At the end of 1987, Accurist received the first Award of Excellence from the National Goldsmiths Association in recognition of its contribution and influence on the UK watch market.

In the 1990s, Accurist dominated the UK watch market, with record sales and launching more watches than ever before, winning “Volume Watch Brand of the Year” at The UK Jewelery Awards. Towards the end of this decade, Accurist launched the accu.2 range, aimed primarily at the younger market, which quickly became one of the most widely stocked watches in over 1,500 stores and retail outlets across the country.

There is no doubt that Accurist’s marketability and product development and standards have over the past 60 years continued to be one of the world’s leading watch manufacturers. With ever-increasing sponsorship deals, new products and new technology, Accurist has made a breakthrough in supplying value-for-money, designer watches to millions of people around the world, a trend that is sure to continue. despite the increasing competition in today’s market.
